Graffiti
In Northern Ireland I believe there are angry people. Whether they are Protestants or Catholics I don’t know, but there are probably some on either side. These folk have gathered together and scrawled culture onto their buildings – men with guns, roses, meaningful things to them. However most graffiti is total nonsense and garbage – people’s tag lines for example, almost always four letters, but never actual swearwords. This I take from my journeying into London from where I live. Dangerous it must be to stand next to a train line, or dangling over the edge of a bridge just to scrawl your name. But people do it. This is not edifying, it doesn’t carry any message nor is it any work of art. Why do people go to such extents for such a complete waste of time, turning a nice place into a slum simply because you can afford a spray can and have a serious suicidal tendency. Its not just laziness and thoughtlessness – littering, dropping ciggie butts, and chewing gum – they must actually plan their crime, maybe whilst playing Grand Theft Auto, where you probably get bonus points for it. But in real life there are no bonus points. I don’t want these people to accidentally get killed, while scrawling their rubbish. I’d just rather have a clean city, with the culture being something people can be proud of.
