Murder
There in front of us every day: many films, many newspaper articles, history, you name it, there is murder somewhere in there, creeping in to our lives, our psyches, in many forms. Why is this? Jesus has already died for us; we have police and justice systems. Surely we should have grown beyond this most heinous of crimes.
We see especially on the telly, many instances of death and murder. Why have we not grown beyond this? Is it somewhere deep within our genetic make-up? Are some of us just insane?
Hannibal Lecter clearly was. I am sure most people are not programmed to kill each other. But now we have robots – drones – made with this explicit purpose. Surely we are evil enough on our own, and now we are creating things to do it better and more efficiently for us, on a global scale. Is murder in war acceptable? Our societies have always and even presently believe so.
Natural selection – competition – explains it to us as a logical way of evolution. But society has evolved with peace, and justice to further our way of living. Maybe some day, war will be outlawed, and our race will never even contemplate murder or violence. I hope this does not come with some penalty, and we will all understand ourselves and each other well enough so that CSI programs for example, and maybe even police forces will not exist. There should be no reason we cannot all – despite our differences – co-exist.
