Geography
Some places have hills. Some have mountains. It is only from the height of which that we gain understanding and a way to differentiate the two. I have seen them both, mainly from photographs, but also from walking up upon them. There are different wildlife and different rocks in the wilds, some of them apparently appearing only on the use of helicopters. What we feel when we are in the countryside, when we see the birds and the growth of various mushrooms and lichens is I think communing, an ancient bond, between us and the world in which we live. We are a part of the world, in our genes, in our physical make-up. I think we may have forgotten this in some way. But the fresh air and the ground beneath our feet still affects us. Even though we have conquered the earth and made of it what we have, still we are living creatures, of flesh and blood. There is much to be learnt from simply walking amongst the greenery and earth beneath us. We still eat the creatures and plants of our world. There exists flora and fauna that keeps us from dying. We cannot completely distance ourselves from this, even in our age of the internet and mobile phones. Whether or not we are farmers and whether or not we commune with the baser parts of our planet, we are still beings in the habitat and arena of the earth.
